Cyber Security Analyst – Employment Opportunity

The Security Analyst will plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security protocols for the protection of the network and data systems. The Security Analyst with gather data from security controls and systems to create executive and summary reports, outlining opportunities for program enhancements. The IS Analyst will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and promoting the Information Security Awareness program throughout the company. The IS Analyst will monitor threat intelligence feeds and develop recommendations to defend against emerging trends. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the position evolves.

The Security Analysis works both independently and as part of the Information Security team to complete enterprise security-related tasks. Provide critical security support to the CISO as well as the entire enterprise by performing security system auditing and reporting, documenting and auditing adherence to policy and procedures, assisting with critical industry and client audits, support and maintaining critical physical enterprise security systems, monitoring and manage information security incidents utilizing industry-standard tools, and maintain vendor relationships supporting a high level of Information Security

Position Responsibilities:

  • This job focuses on ongoing, routine security tasks like monitoring logs, responding to security alerts, patching systems, or running vulnerability scans.
  • Experience with vulnerability management concepts and tools (ex: Qualys, CVE, etc.), generating metrics, and building reporting tools
  • Experience with regulations relating to privacy, security, and government
  • Experience with risk managed frameworks:
  • Experience with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) Tools, processes and concepts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate technical information for non-technical consumers
  • Develop, implement, and lead Information Security Awareness Program for all employees.
  • Serve as an advocate and advisor, promoting a culture of security throughout.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and incident response processes.
  • Perform routine (weekly, monthly) security vulnerability scans and reporting.
  • Perform unscheduled vulnerability scans based on identified weaknesses.
  • Patch servers or mitigate vulnerabilities identified.
  • Assist in IT Security Assessment & Authorization (A&A) process and
  • Assist in IT Security documentation, writing, implementing, and ensuring staff are trained
  • Leading the vulnerability management program including maintenance of scanning tools and supporting software
  • Experience with SIEM tools
  • Supporting information security operations, consulting, and outreach
  • Participating in other team-shared responsibilities
  • As well as other related technology duties not specifically outlined within the job description and will be assigned at the direction of leadership, management, IT Director, and executive management

Desired Skills and qualifications*

Education: Bachelor's degree in any area of the Information Security or computer science is preferred.

Certification(s): At least one certification in the Information Security field is preferred and /or required if a security certification is obtained within 12 months of hiring.

  • BA or BS degree (additional years of experience in cyber security reduce this educational requirement)
  • One or more certifications in information security (such as Security+, CRISC, CISA)
  • Sound cyber security knowledge foundation, to include understanding of Computer and network technology fundamentals
  • Network security tools (proxies, IPS/IDS)
  • Threat and vulnerability management
  • Knowledge of IT environments, information security, and privacy
  • Current and emerging information security exploits, threats, and vulnerabilities
  • Experience analyzing and evaluating network and security vulnerabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrated expertise with multiple Windows, Mac OS, and *nix operating systems
